A Sweet Moment In Time

There is a picture of me and my mom that hangs in our stairwell.  It is a really big professional picture and it was taken just a few months before she died.  It is a beautiful picture and I have always treasured it because it was a special "just us" moment.  It wasn't like we took the whole family in for pictures and happened to snap one of just the two of us.  For whatever reason she took me in to get some pictures taken with just her, and I love it!
Ever since Tavian was born, as we come down the stairs in the morning (or really at any point in the day), I always say, "Where's Nana?"  Over time he has realized the woman in the picture is Nana and so he looks at her and points, and I tell him to say hi and say love you as we continue down the stairs.  Well, just two days ago, as we went down the stairs, I asked if he could blow Nana a kiss.  And sure enough, right then and there, looking at her picture, he blew her kisses.  The words that came from my mouth were the essence of what I knew to be true.  "You just melted Nana's heart!"  And I know that he did!

(And he melted mine too!...but then again, what day does he not??)

  2. so precious. I have loved to see the girls do the same with pictures of papa ed. It melts the heart to know they still think of him and love him. I know Tavo will grow up doing the same thing...ps..I love that pic of you and your mom!
