10 Years Later

At the end of June I celebrated my 10 Year High School Reunion...say what??  That is pure crazy talk!  I seriously cannot believe it has been 10 years.  My fabulous friend Sydnie planned an amazing event that we will all remember for years to come.

I distinctally remember in high school talking about how crazy it would be to have a 10 year reunion.  I remember feeling like it was a lifetime away, but knowing it would feel like a blink of an eye.  And it's true...it did!  So much has happened to all of us.  We have all grown and changed and overcome obstacles and celebrated.  But it feels like I was graduating from high school one moment, and a moment later we were here.  Life is crazy like that.

I was super excited to celebrate our 10 year High School Reunion and catch up with old friends.  I am well aware that not everyone feels that way, but I was unabashedly excited.  It seemed like some people were too cool to care about it or felt like it was lame, but I genuinely wanted to embrace the experience.  After all, it only happens once.  So why not enjoy it?!?

It didn't hurt that I am still in touch with many of the people I graduated with.  It is hard not to be in todays world of facebook.  Its safe to say I had high expectations for the weekend, and I'm happy to say it didn't dissapoint at all.

As I said, Sydnie went above and beyond and packed the weekend full with three super fun events.  Friday night started the weekend with food and drinks and pool at Coopersmiths in downtown Fort Collins.  We had a whole section to ourselves which was super fun because you knew everywhere you looked was either someone you went to school with or someone they brought.

I was so lame and hardly took any pictures from the first night.  Cole snapped this one from right before we left.
I wish I had remembered to take more!

I did shap this one...just cause it made me smile that there was a line forming to say hello to
my dear friend Brenden.  We were lucky to have him there as he came all the way from Hong Kong!

Luckily Courtney did a better job and got this one of Elissa, Brenden, and I with her.
Saturday was the main event.  We met at the Agave Room (a large room above the Rio) for margs and mexican food. Yum!  There was also a DJ and dancing, a photo booth, and even some live music.  There are few things more fun then dancing with your girlfriends to all of your old high school jams that everyone knows all the words to!  Backstreet Boys?...Spice Girls?...Um, yes please! :)

Headed to the Agave Room with this handsome man!

Rockin my "Kardashian Dress" for the occasion

These ladies go back all the way to 7th grade....love them!

One of my absolute favorite people!  And thank goodness for me we have been friends pretty much since I was born!

Oh wow...getting crazy on the dance floor!

Just to give you an idea...here we are ten years ago!  Those were the days :)

Some photo booth fun!

We love Courtney and Jeremy..so fun to have couples friends!
Alittle fun fact:  Courtney and I didn't actually know each other in High School but became friends a few years ago!

We won wine in the raffle...wahoo! :)

We ended the weekend fun on Sunday morning at City Park with all the families.  I was soaking up as much time as possible to catch up with everyone because although there technically was plenty of time, everything seemed to fly by so fast.

I was happy Brenden got to meet my kiddos...and this pic of him with Becks is pretty amazing!

The weekend itself made me very thankful.  I realized how blessed I was to have such wonderful friends, in high school and today, and what a blessing it is to have the opportunity to continue to invest in each other.  One of my favorite parts was getting to meet some of my friends spouses/boyfriends.  I had never met my friend Allison's husband and he was so great, as was my friends Whitney's boyfriend.  I got to walk away having met some really wonderful people!

I also couldn't have asked for a better hubby then Cole.  I was so proud to have him on my arm and have others get to know him.  He was a wonderful sport and accompanied me to everything the whole weekend.  He was super sweet too because the whole time he said the weekend was about me and that I didn't need to worry about him but that he would make his own fun no matter what.  I felt like every time I looked for him I would find him chatting it up and making friends with new people.  I love that everyone got to see what a wonderful man I am married to!

I'm a lucky lady!

One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to see my friend Nick.  He was a high school sweetheart, but more importantly one of my very best friends throughout high school.

Cole took this picture of Nick and I at Coopersmiths

I can't tell you the comfort and nostalgia that comes from getting to catch up and spend time with someone who lived through some of the important, tumultuous years growing up.  We were in each other's lives during very important years and there is comfort in not having to explain the past, but knowing someone totally gets it because they lived through it with you.  It was great getting to introduce him to Cole and seeing them become friends and also getting to hear how great Nick's life has turned out.  I am so happy to see him so happy!

Overall it was truly wonderful.  I really wish we could do it again before another 10 years goes by.  But, as I know all too well, it is just a blink of an eye away.

Thank you to all the friends that made it such a fun weekend!

Thank you Syd for doing such an awesome job and for helping us make such wonderful, new memories!
And thank you for loving to rock red lips with me :)
